Experienced Heavy Metal Fabricator (Boilermaker)
The opportunity
General Steel is seeking an experienced Heavy Metal Fabricator to join our team in Caringbah, NSW. This full-time role is a key position within our growing operation, responsible for the fabrication and assembly of complex metal structures to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to fabricate metal components and assemblies
- Operate a variety of metalworking machinery and tools including welding equipment, grinders, and power tools
- Perform precision cutting, shaping, and joining of metal parts to assemble final products
- Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards
- Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot issues and find solutions
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to less experienced team members
What we’re looking for
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Heavy Metal Fabricator or similar role in the trades and services industry
- Strong skills in welding, cutting, and metal fabrication techniques
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to working safely and maintaining a clean work area
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Relevant trade qualifications or certifications
